I had the best breakfast this morning and it all started in the microwave. I’m normally not one to cook much using the microwave. I use it mostly for heating things up, the occasional popcorn popping, and for jiffy defrosting when I’m short on time. It’s also good for storing things like paper plates, bags, etc. Of course, I don’t do that!
I have seen “how-to” cooking videos on social media and never really had a thought past the “wow, that’s neat” sentiment. But this one video I saw recently made the food look good and way too easy. It simply had to be too good to be true.
I decided to put it to the test this morning. I made myself an omelet in a mug! It couldn’t be easier and it took just one minute (yes, that’s right – 60 seconds) in the microwave! No frying pan, no folding the omelet over and messing it up, nothing to clean up….brilliant!
So now I’ll tell you what you need to do. Get ready cuz it’s a lengthy read…..ready? Here we go:
Crack 2 eggs into a coffee mug. Add a splash of milk or half & half. Stir with a fork. Sprinkle on some shredded cheddar cheese and some bacon bits. Cook on high for 60 seconds. Done!
You can make it any type of omelet you desire. Add some chopped green pepper, tomato and onion if you want a veggie omelet. Add some cooked crumbled up sausage. The add-ins are endless. Or just leave it plain for scrambled eggs.
I turned my cheddar bacon omelet out onto a plate and had a side of rye toast. It was just delicious!
This is a super easy way for college kids, singles, anyone who wants minimal clean up, anyone who doesn’t cook or doesn’t like to cook, or anyone with a cat who likes to be near the stove when you’re cooking, to make quick, easy and yummy meals!
Stay tuned for more microwave cooking concoctions. I have a new-found respect for the microwave!
